Dear families,
First graders were treated to a “fancy” luncheon this week when their very own classmate, Maggie, was Head of School for the day. She requested that the whole first grade join her for lunch in the Commons. The students felt very special and important. We also got to visit her in her office and conduct an interview to learn more about what her responsibilities were and how she was feeling. Maggie was very proud of her new position and said “being the Head of School is hard work.” It was fun to be part of Maggie’s day and I'm so glad she included her classmates in the process.
Curriculum highlights:
Social Studies
We read two stories, And Tango Makes Three and What It’s Like to Live in America with My Family, that sparked a wonderful conversation for our next family question, What is special about your family?
Math
Our next chapter focuses on shapes.
Spelling
Example - sl ap = slap, cl ap = clap,
brush = br ush
Next week we will work with consonant blends with three letters.
Writing
Students wrote about their special moment they have with their families.
Tomorrow we will see the 5th-6th school play.
I hope you had a great weekend!
Have a nice night.
Alyson
